Kitchen Museum
Gaziantep is a city filled with history and wonder, however, it has not forgotten the day to day lifestyle of their ancestors. The Kitchen Museum, or Cuisine Museum, was once the family home of Turkey’s first tourism minister, after returning since he was a child and seeing the poorer condition compared to others around he decided to buy the old house and donate it. This donation came with a wish for it to be turned into a museum that shows the cuisine of the region as well as a small look into Turkish lifestyles.
While it took 15 years to come to fruition the museum was opened as part of the cities 87th anniversary of French occupation. The museum was named after the minister's mother Emine Gogus as respect for her time raising him and her abilities as a brilliant cook for the family.
