Tumulus Tombs of Karakus

The Tumulus Tomb of Karakus is located on Karadag Mountain. The son of Antiochos l, Mithradates ll, built the tomb for his mother, however, they also lay other deceased female members of his family there. On top of one of the pillars outside the tombs stands a black stone eagle because Karakus in Turkish means ‘blackbird’.
